Gryphon
95mm (3.75") high x 135mm (5.25") long x 100mm (4") wide

Based on the drawing by Sir John Tenniel done as an illustration for Lewis Carroll's 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'.
The Ancient and Magnificent Gryphon's origins lie in Antiquity; certainly by the time of the Bible its struggles against the one-eyed race of Arimaspians was well known. This fine beast was believed to be the progeny of two Royal animals for it bore the head, wings and claws of the Eagle and the hind quarters of the Lion. It was held to be sacred to the Sun and the guardian over buried treasure.
This noble lineage has assured it a place on the Arms and Crests of Nobles and Royalty throughout the ages.

These castings are designed, sculpted and manufactured in England, using resin-bonded marble, bronze and Cotswold stone. Modern moulding techniques faithfully reproduce the intricate and painstaking work of the sculptor whilst giving the appearance of real carved stone or sculpted terracotta. The resin sculptures are weatherproof, the plaques having a hole drilled in the back for easy hanging
