The feasting was done- the platters cleared away, the dogs gnawed on their bones, the wine was passed around again. The King scratched himself, snorted and, bringing his chalice down upon the table with a resounding crash, brought the laughter and lechery to an abrupt halt. "Music!", he cried," Let there be music!" And, woken from their slumbers in the Buttery, the King's Men leapt to their duty. There where shawms and sackbuts, jongleurs and fire eaters and, of course, the most favoured - and feared - the Fool. For only the Fool it was who could, through laughter and jest, tell the King the real truth about himself..and keep his head!
